Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) is pleased to announce that WFW Senior Consultant Lucien Rapp has authored a newly published legal dictionary The Spationary – A Dictionary of Essential Space Terminology for Lawyers. Published by Brill, a leading international publisher in the humanities, social sciences and international law, The Spationary is the twenty-seventh volume in its Studies in Space Law series.
The Spationary provides definitions and contextual explanations for 218 legal terms commonly used in space law. Designed as a practical tool for legal professionals, regulators and academics, the book aims to support the drafting of legal texts, rulings, contracts and scientific papers relating to space activities. It will be updated regularly to reflect legal and technological developments in the sector.
Paris-based Lucien Rapp is a leading expert in regulatory, space, aviation and communications law. He has contributed to a number of major regulatory initiatives, including the drafting of the EU directive on civil aviation accident investigations and expert work on the Galileo satellite navigation programme. He is also scientific director of the SIRIUS Chair, sponsored by CNES, Airbus Defence and Space and Thales Alenia Space.
Lucien commented: “The Spationary is an invaluable resource that will help shed light on some of the more challenging aspects of space law, an evolving and increasingly strategic sector. I am incredibly proud of The Spationary as well as WFW’s thriving aerospace practice which is entrenched in the satellite and space industry”.
The Spationary is available for sale on Brill’s website.
