WFW celebrates 25 years in Singapore6 October 2023

In a celebration worthy of a quarter century in one of the world’s leading finance and business centres, international law firm Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) marked 25 years in Singapore with a rooftop celebration on the evening of Wednesday 4 October.

The guests, valued clients, current and former members of WFW Singapore and partners from around the WFW global network that gathered to mark the occasion, took in the glorious views of the CBD and many of Singapore’s most famous landmarks as they reminisced about the firm’s time in Singapore, discussed current and upcoming business and looked towards a bright future in the city-state.

All present, including former WFW Singapore Office Heads, were welcomed by current Singapore Office Head and Global Co-Head of Aviation Charles Viggers, before WFW Global Managing Partner Lindsey Keeble spoke about the importance of Singapore as a regional hub for the wider region and WFW’s ongoing growth in Asia, illustrated by the opening of new offices in Seoul and Tokyo this year, and thanked the firm’s clients for their continued support.

However, on a night of celebration, the absence of two beloved WFW colleagues, Partner and former Singapore Office Head Mei Lin Goh and Partner Mehraab Nazir, who both sadly passed away in 2022, was felt by all. Lindsey noted the ongoing work that the firm is doing in order to keep Mei and Mehraab’s legacies alive and well.

WFW Singapore Office Head Charles Viggers said: “It was a glorious occasion to mark a notable milestone for the firm. We were very pleased to be joined not only by many of our clients, but also by colleagues from across the firm with ties to our Singapore office and the broader market”.

WFW Senior Advisor Nigel Thomas, who was Singapore Office Head at its opening on 1 September 1998 added: “I have many great memories of my, and my family’s, time here in Singapore. Of course, you remember the deals and successes and, at times, the craziness but the most enduring memories are always of people; the great clients and amazing colleagues are what make the whole experience”.

WFW Global Managing Partner Lindsey Keeble concluded: “I’m delighted I was able to be here. WFW’s Singapore office continues to expand and evolve and a lot of people have worked very hard over the last 25 years to get to this point, so it is always important to stop and look back on what has been achieved and take great pleasure and pride in that”.
