Mario is a Partner in the Finance Group.
Mario has extensive experience advising financial institutions, borrowers, sponsors and ECAs on project and export finance transactions in the energy and infrastructure sectors. He also advises on major asset-based financings in the real estate, transport (including rail, aviation and roads) and sport sectors.
Further areas of expertise include debt restructuring and insolvency matters, acquisition financings (both corporate and leveraged) and private placement transactions.
Mario has been ranked as a banking and project finance lawyer by Chambers Europe since 2013. In 2026, Mario was again ranked in Project Finance by Chambers Europe. Clients say that he “is always very helpful and able to answer our questions and requests precisely, clearly and quickly”.
Mario has been a long-standing “Leading Individual” in the Banking and Finance directory of Legal 500. In the EMEA 2026 edition, clients valued him for having “a way of making even the trickiest financing issues feel manageable. His advice to borrowers is always clear, grounded, and practical”.

- Advising NatWest and UKEF on €100m loan to Bristow for the acquisition of five SAR aircraft. This deal won Helicopter Investor’s Most Innovative Deal of the Year 2025.
- Advising UniCredit S.p.A. on the long-term project financing of the Bel Lavello wind park.
- Advising Prysmian in connection with ECA finance aspects relating to the US$519m financing for National Grid, the UK’s main electricity and gas utility company, for the North Sea Link project, the world’s longest subsea interconnector, between the United Kingdom and Norway.
- Advising Tages Helios and Delos Power Group on the corporate reorganisation and refinancing of a solar portfolio owned by Sicilia Solare S.r.l. and located in Sicily, Italy.
- Advising Blue Elephant Energy AG, on the bridge and medium term phases of the leveraged acquisition and refinancing of a 22 MW solar portfolio in Italy, originally owned by Viridis Energia S.r.l.
