Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) has advised Norddeutsche Landesbank Girozentrale (“NORD/LB”) and EKF Denmark´s Export Credit Agency (“EKF”) on the €53.5m ECA-backed long-term financing of a wind farm portfolio in Poland, being developed and built by Danish developer European Energy. The portfolio consists of five wind farms with a total capacity of 44.675 MW. WFW previously advised NORD/LB on the bridge financing of the portfolio in 2020.
The WFW Germany team advising NORD/LB and EKF was led by Hamburg Banking & Finance Partner Thomas Hollenhorst, supported by Associates Marie-Theres Recifo and Jakob Paluszkiewicz. The team worked closely throughout the transaction with correspondent Polish law firm Domański Zakrzewski Palinka Sp.k on local law matters.
Thomas commented: “We are delighted to have advised NORD/LB and EKF on this complex cross-border ECA-backed financing, having previously advised NORD/LB on the bridge financing for this portfolio. Our role advising on this transaction not only underlines WFW’s standing as one of the leading legal advisors for cross-border finance work in the European renewable energy sector, but also positions us at the forefront of developments in the fast-expanding Polish renewables market”.
