Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) advised Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (“CDP”) and Italian export credit agency SACE S.p.A. (“SACE”) on a €200m financing granted to Development Bank of Kazakhstan (“DBK”) to fund strategic projects in key sectors including renewable energy, energy efficiency, healthcare, water management and transport infrastructure.
The financing, backed by SACE’s Push Strategy guarantee, aims to strengthen economic relations between Italy and Kazakhstan by promoting business partnerships and bilateral trade across critical sectors. This also marks CDP’s first operation in the country.
The cross-border WFW Assets & Structured Finance team that advised that advised CDP and SACE on both the Italian and English law aspects of the financing was led by Milan Partner Mario D’Ovidio, working closely with Paris Partner Alexia Russell. They were supported by Milan Associate Giulia Chiarvesio and London Senior Associate Parit Patani. London Partners Richard Stephens and Andrew Hutcheon advised on English law tax and arbitration matters respectively. Milan Counsel Alfredo Guacci Esposito and Associate Marianna Telesca provided assistance on Italian tax matters.
The WFW team worked closely with CDP and SACE’s Kazakh legal counsel Centil Law Firm.
