Watson Farley & Williams LLP (“WFW”) is delighted to announce that it has been recognised for its role as advisor to ICBC Financial Leasing on a sale and leaseback transaction with Capital Maritime, in relation to two newbuild Liberian-flagged Tier-III, scrubber-ready VLCCs, which has won China Business Law Journal’s 2019 Deal of the Year Award.
The WFW Maritime Hong Kong team advising ICBC was led by Partner Christoforos Bisbikos, assisted by Senior Associate Ryan Tan, Associate Frederica Yeung and Legal Assistant Xiaoheng Lin. The team also worked closely with WFW New York and Hamburg.
The transaction was notable for being the first of its kind undertaken by Capital Maritime, demonstrating Chinese leasing as an increasingly attractive ship financing option for European owners.
