"Expanding our global disputes practice is a key strategic growth ambition for the firm and a talented Partner such as Marcus joining us demonstrates our commitment to and success in achieving that goal."
Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) is delighted to announce that dispute resolution expert Marcus Dodds has joined the firm as a Partner in London. He was previously a Partner at Reed Smith, where he was Co-Head of the LNG and offshore groups.
A highly experienced litigator and former ship’s Captain with over thirty years’ experience in the maritime sector, Marcus has a broad practice spanning both dry-shipping, offshore and Admiralty matters, both contentious and non-contentious. A recognised expert in offshore and LNG shipping, he has acted as external legal advisor to the international industry body SIGTTO (Society of International Gas Tanker & Terminal Operators Ltd) for many years and sits on Lloyd’s Register’s Classification Committee.
WFW London Dispute Resolution Co-Head Andrew Ward commented: “I’m delighted to welcome Marcus to both the firm and the partnership. Expanding our global disputes practice is a key strategic growth ambition for the firm and a talented Partner such as Marcus joining us, especially given the perfect alignment between his areas of special expertise and the firm’s core sectors, demonstrates our commitment to and success in achieving that goal”.
Global Maritime Sector Head Lindsey Keeble added: “With the largest dedicated maritime legal practice in the world, first class disputes expertise is key to the full service our clients expect. Marcus has a deep knowledge of the maritime, offshore and LNG sectors and his joining us only strengthens our ability to offer dedicated maritime expertise throughout the maritime value chain”.
Marcus said: “WFW, with its world-beating maritime expertise, is quite simply the ideal platform from which I can expand both my practice and the service I can offer my clients, especially owners and their insurers. I greatly look forward to working with all my new colleagues and to helping further expand the firm’s highly regarded offshore and LNG practices in particular”.
