Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) is delighted to announce that infrastructure, projects and emerging markets expert Ryan Ayrton has joined the firm as a Partner in London. He joins WFW from Linklaters where he was a Managing Associate in their Energy and Infrastructure Group.

Ryan has a decade of experience advising clients on a broad range of energy and infrastructure transactions in both developed and emerging markets, with particular expertise in multi-source brownfield infrastructure finance (including acquisition finance), greenfield project finance and ECA-backed transactions. His diverse client portfolio includes leading sponsors, financial institutions, asset managers, funds and ECAs/DFIs.

London-based WFW Global Energy Sector Co-Head Henry Stewart commented: “Ryan is a fantastic strategic addition to the firm, representing a major boost to our infrastructure and emerging markets expertise in London, where our Projects Group has traditionally focussed on power and European renewables. He also brings welcome new European Infra-leverage finance experience, all of which make him ideally placed to build a successful European infrastructure and ECA finance practice integrated within the firm’s broader offering. I’m delighted to welcome him to the firm”.

Ryan added: “With its long-standing focus on the energy and infrastructure sector, as well as strong entrepreneurial culture, WFW is an ideal and attractive platform from which I can enhance and expand the service I offer my clients. I greatly look forward to working with all new colleagues both in London and internationally, especially in helping build up the firm’s European infrastructure and ECA finance practices”.

Ryan is the second recent Partner level hire bringing further emerging markets and infrastructure expertise to the firm’s Global Energy Sector, following the arrival of Alhassane Barry from Clifford Chance to WFW Dubai in November 2021.
