Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) advised Sonnedix on the acquisition of two Spanish photovoltaic (“PV”) portfolios, comprising 21 operating PV plants with a 26.9 MW aggregate capacity, from a global asset manager, and a nine PV-plant portfolio with a combined capacity of 11.3 MW from Perwyn, a family-funded investment firm. The transactions closed in December and November 2019 respectively.

Sonnedix is a leading global independent solar power producer, with a 1.8 GW portfolio of projects worldwide, both operational and under development. With these acquisitions, Sonnedix now has 252 MW of operational assets in Spain.

The multi-disciplinary WFW Madrid Energy team advising Sonnedix was led by Madrid Office Head María Pilar García Guijarro, Regulatory Partner David Diez and Tax Partner Luis Soto, working with Corporate Senior Associates Javier Ester and Román Pazos.

María Pilar commented: “It was a great pleasure working with Sonnedix on these important investments in Spain, further strengthening our existing relationship with them. As a legal advisor of reference for renewable projects, I believe our team was able to bring significant knowledge and know-how to the negotiation table to help Sonnedix achieves its goals”.
