WFW advises Schroders Greencoat on acquisition of new stake in Butendiek wind farm19 December 2023

Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) has advised Schroders Greencoat on the acquisition by funds that it advises or manages of a further 22.5% stake in the Butendiek offshore wind farm (“Butendiek”).

The Butendiek offshore wind farm is located 35km off the coast in the German North Sea. Fully operational since 2015, it comprises 80 wind turbines with a total rated output of 288 MW.

WFW previously advised Greencoat Renewables PLC on the acquisition of a 22.5% stake in the project from Marguerite Pantheon in January 2023.

The multi-disciplinary WFW Hamburg team that advised Schroders Greencoat was led by Corporate Partner and Global Energy Sector Co-Head Malte Jordan with support from Associate Tarek Fadl. Partners Max Boemke and Christine Bader provided regulatory expertise, whilst Partner Verena Scheibe and Managing Associate Verena Weider advised on the tax-related aspects of the transaction.
