WFW advises RWE on Vanguard East Vestas turbine supply agreement 11 March 2026

Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) advised RWE on its contract with Vestas for the supply of turbines to its Vanguard East offshore wind project in Norfolk, UK. WFW previously advised RWE on the turbine supply contract for its Vanguard West project.

Similar to the previous agreement, Vestas is contracted to supply, deliver and commission 92 of its V236 15 MW offshore wind turbines for the project.

RWE recently secured a Contract for Difference for the Vanguard East and West Project as part of the UK Government’s Allocation Round 7, with commissioning of the East project expected in 2030.

Headquartered in Essen, Germany, RWE is a leading renewable energy developer with a focus on offshore and onshore wind, solar energy and battery storage projects across nearly 30 countries.

Vestas is a global designer, manufacturer, installer and servicer of onshore and offshore wind turbines, with more than 201 GW of wind turbines installed in 88 countries.

James Fryer, a Senior Associate in the WFW Projects team, led the negotiating team that advised RWE, under the supervision of Partner Martin Lucas.

James commented: “Working with RWE across both the Vanguard East and Vanguard West turbine supply contracts highlights the scale and ambition of this portfolio. These projects will play a pivotal role in strengthening the UK’s offshore wind pipeline, and we’re pleased to have helped secure another major agreement between RWE and Vestas”.
