International law firm Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) has advised HSH Nordbank AG (“HSH Nordbank”) on the financing of the Kappel wind farm in Denmark.

HSH Nordbank provided a long-term financing for the wind farm, which is located on the Danish island of Lolland. The wind farm, which has a total capacity of 25 MW, was built by Danish developer European Energy and acquired by a fund managed by Aquila Capital, the alternative asset management division of the Hamburg-based Aquila Group.

The WFW Germany team advising HSH Nordbank was led by Hamburg Banking & Finance Partner Thomas Hollenhorst. He was supported by Partner Stefan Hoffmann (Corporate/Energy), Senior Associate Marcus Mützelburg and Associate Dr Paul-Vincent Hahn (both Banking & Finance). The team worked closely with WFW’s Danish correspondent law firm Bech-Bruun on the domestic law aspects of the transaction.

Thomas commented: “Having previously advised our long-standing client HSH Nordbank on the financing of the two Vandel solar parks in Denmark, we’re delighted to have now been able to assist them in their entry into the Danish wind sector, as well as help support their continued expansion in Scandinavia”.
