WFW strengthens German regulatory team with Düsseldorf counsel hire16 June 2025

Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) is pleased to announce that Rebecca Trampe-Berger has joined the firm’s Düsseldorf office as counsel on 1 June, strengthening its regulatory, public law and competition practice in Germany. She was previously Counsel at Norton Rose Fulbright in Düsseldorf.

Rebecca has many years’ experience advising on regulatory matters in the telecommunications and energy sectors, particularly at the interface with digital infrastructure. She also regularly advises on M&A transactions and projects in the same sectors. Her clients include national and international network operators, energy companies, investors, project developers and public utilities.

Her telecommunications law expertise focusses on digital infrastructure projects, including mobile network expansion projects and building data centres. Her energy practice centres on the transformation of network infrastructure, grid access issues and the structuring of grid fees.

WFW Germany Head Dr Christian Finnern commented: “We are delighted to welcome Rebecca to our team. With her experience, she represents a key addition to our expanding German regulatory practice, especially in the increasingly important area of digital infrastructure. And her arrival also strengthens our Düsseldorf office”.

Hamburg Regulatory, Public Law & Competition Partner Dr F. Maximilian Boemke, who leads the firm’s power and renewable offering, added: “As regulatory requirements in the energy and telecommunications sectors continue to increase given network expansion and digitalisation; Rebecca’s expertise complements our team and strategy perfectly. Together with Corporate Partner Christian Schindler, she will focus on the interface between regulation and M&A”.

Rebecca said: “The digital infrastructure sector is constantly evolving and faces significant regulatory and economic challenges and I look forward to leveraging my experience to help WFW further expanding its practice in the sector”.
