WFW bolsters commodities and international trade capabilities with partner hire 23 February 2026

Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) is pleased to announce that commodities and international trade expert Chris Williamson has joined the firm as a partner in London.

Chris brings nearly 25 years of combined legal, commercial and front-office experience across the commodities, natural resources, banking and structured finance sectors. His career includes senior leadership roles at Deutsche Bank, ICBC Standard Bank and Hartree Partners, where he worked directly with Metals, Energy, Carbon and Credit trading teams to structure and execute a wide range of physical and financial commodities transactions. Chris’ deep operational and commercial experience, combined with his early training in private practice, uniquely positions him within the legal market.

WFW Global Energy Sector Head Henry Stewart commented: “Chris’s arrival significantly strengthens our ability to support clients across the full commodities value chain, particularly in metals, mining and structured finance. His insight, network and collaborative approach align perfectly with our strategy to expand our offering in this critical and fast‑evolving area of the global energy market”.

Chris added: “WFW offers the ideal platform to combine my commodities, legal and structuring experience with the firm’s global reach and sector strengths. The opportunity to contribute to the growth of a leading commodities practice in a full‑service international firm is immensely compelling and I am excited to contribute to WFW’s reputation as the go‑to firm for commodities‑related legal advice”.
