WFW advises Zaha Hadid Architects on £210m Lithuanian airport redevelopment project24 November 2025

Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) advised Zaha Hadid Architects (“ZHA”) on its successful contractual negotiations with Lithuanian Airports (“LTOU”) for a new arrivals terminal at Vilnius Airport.

Expected to open at the end of 2028, the new terminal will cover over 12,500 sq metres and provide new retail, hospitality amenities and service areas, including office space for Lithuanian Airports employees.

ZHA was chosen following a public procurement exercise and brings to the project extensive experience in developing some of the world’s most advanced passenger terminals, including in Beijing, Mumbai and Sydney, on which WFW also advised.

ZHA is one of the world’s most high-profile and well-known firms of architects. Based in London, the studio was founded by the Pritzker Prize-winning female Iraqi-British architect Dame Zaha Hadid. LTOU is a joint stock company that manages and coordinates activities of the Vilnius, Kaunas and Palanga airports.

The WFW London team that advised ZHA was led by Construction Partner Barry Hembling, supported by Senior Associate Jamie Bell and Associates Dan Haley and William Stewart, with additional support from Trainee Daniel Grondin and PA Alice Parmar.

Barry commented: “We’re pleased to have advised ZHA on this project that will increase the capacity of Vilnius Airport, whilst enhancing the passenger experience when traveling. WFW has a stellar record of advising on infrastructure and transport projects and we look forward to working with ZHA on future projects”.
