WFW advises Hive and SunLeonard on PV project development agreement with GreenIT20 July 2023

Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) has advised Hive Energy Limited (“Hive”) and SunLeonard Energy Limited (“SunLeonard”) on an agreement with GreenIT to support the development of four photovoltaic (“PV”) projects.

The four projects, which will have a total capacity of up to 200 MW and use agrivoltaic technology, are located in Italy’s central and southern regions of Lazio, Apulia and Sicily. Using agrivoltaic technology, once operational, they are expected to generate electricity for around 150,000 households, contributing to the decarbonisation targets set out in Italy’s 2030 National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan.

Hive is a UK-based, large scale renewable energy developer, with a current pipeline of 27,000+ MW of renewable energy projects. To date, it has invested £1.3bn+ in green energy projects. SunLeonard is an advisor company focussing on impact investment.

GreenIT is the Italian joint venture set up in 2021 by Plenitude (Eni) and CDP Equity (CDP Group) to produce electricity from renewable sources.

The WFW Italy team that advised Hive and SunLeonard was led by Partners Luca Sfrecola, Elvezio Santarelli and Of Counsel Antonio Biasi, supported by Associate Antimo Rocco Nersita. Hive’s in house legal team was led by Italy Country Manager Stefano Salerno.
