Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) advised ÇALIK ENERJİ SANAYİ VE TİCARET A.Ş. (“Çalık Enerji”) on the approximately €112m financing of the 73 MW Zatriq Wind Power Plant in south-western Kosovo. This transaction marks Çalık Renewables’ first renewable energy investment outside of Türkiye and the first wind project supported by Swiss Export Risk Insurance (“SERV”).
Calik Enerji Swiss AG, Çalık Enerji’s Swiss EPC subsidiary, acted as EPC provider, while the financing was provided to EV WIND PARK SHPK as the local borrower. Landesbank Hessen-Thüringen Girozentrale (Helaba) acted as lender, with SERV providing buyer credit insurance cover.
The WFW Germany Project and Structured Finance team which advised Çalık Enerji was led by Partner Riko Vanezis, supported by Partner Florian Kutzbach, Associate Anindhya Shrivastava and Transaction Lawyer Arda Coşar.
Riko commented: “We are pleased to have represented Çalık Enerji and Çalık Renewables on this strategically significant transaction. Advising on cross-border, ECA-backed structures of this kind reflects both the strength and depth of our teams’ sector expertise and our commitment to enabling complex renewable energy projects across emerging markets”.
