WFW advises Banco Sabadell on Enerparc AG solar PV portfolio financing9 May 2025

Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) advised Banco Sabadell on a financing granted to Enerparc AG for its 68 MWp solar PV portfolio in the Balearic Islands, Spain.

The portfolio, which comprises five operational solar PV projects, was initially financed through a short-term loan which was fully repaid upon financial close in February 2025. The new financing package, which will be repaid over 20 years, also returns capital to Enerparc AG for the development and construction of new projects.

Founded in 1881, Banco Sabadell is one of Spain’s leading banking groups and listed on the IBEX 35. Active in 15 countries worldwide, its commercial banking operations are based in Spain, the UK and Mexico.

Hamburg-based company Enerparc AG offers a wide range of services for the development, planning, construction and operation of solar power plants and the marketing of the solar electricity they generate.

The WFW Madrid Finance team that advised Banco Sabadell was led by Finance Partner Juan Vicente Barquilla, working closely with Associates Julia Belmonte, Sara Estradera, María Gardeta and Miquel Ros. They were supported on regulatory matters by Partner Luis González and Associate Isabel Rodríguez de Codes.

Juan Vicente commented: “We are proud to have supported our client on this complex asset refinancing transaction through a customised financial solution specifically designed to address the complexities of a highly regulated and sensitive environment such as the Balearic Islands. The deal was executed in an exceptionally short timeframe, thanks to the deep technical expertise and commitment of our team. This transaction further consolidates our position as the go-to law firm for financings in the energy sector, where we offer both legal excellence and strategic market insights”.
