She is a dual-qualified lawyer in England and Wales (Barrister-at-Law) and Malaysia (Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya).
May has experience advising international clients on a broad range of finance transactions, particularly in the Transport sector. Her experience includes vessel and aircraft financings and refinancings across multiple jurisdictions.
May is fluent in English and Malay and speaks conversational Hokkien and Mandarin.
- Advising an international Japanese bank in respect of a syndicated, secured EUR term loan facility to a Chinese leasing company for the refinancing of an Airbus, which was leased to a Turkish airline pursuant to a finance lease.
- Advising an international Japanese bank in respect of a syndicated, secured USD term loan facility to a Chinese leasing company for the refinancing of an Airbus, which was leased to a Mexican airline pursuant to an operating lease.
- Advising a Taiwanese bank in respect of a syndicated, secured TWD term loan with pre- and post-delivery facilities to a Taiwanese incorporated borrower, which also involved obligors incorporated in Singapore and England, to finance the purchase of a newbuild service operations vessel.
- Advising a Taiwanese financing company in respect of a secured USD term loan facility to Vietnamese incorporated borrower, which also involved a Panamanian incorporated guarantor, for the refinancing of a Panamanian flagged vessel.
- Advising a Taiwanese financing company in respect of a secured USD term loan facility to borrower incorporated in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, which also involved two corporate guarantors each incorporated in United Arab Emirates and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, for the refinancing of two vessels flagged in Marshall Islands and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines respectively.
