James is a senior associate in the London Projects Group.
James’ focus is on supporting renewable energy projects, with a particular expertise in project development (construction, operation and offtake contracting), joint venture support and equity transactions. He regularly advises on a range of renewable energy projects across EMEA, supporting developers, investors, lenders and contractors in asset classes including BESS, offshore wind, onshore wind, solar, interconnectors, synchronous condensers, green hydrogen and all a variety of other energy transition technologies.
- Advising CIBC, MUFG and NatWest on a £245m financing granted to Matrix Renewables for the construction of a 500 MW BESS project in Eccles, Scotland.
- Advising a consortium of lenders and hedge counterparties on the £594m debt package for the 1.45 GW (2.9 GWh) Thorpe Marsh BESS project in Yorkshire, UK.
- Advising global solar developer Lightsource bp on the sale of a portfolio of 58 operational assets to a consortium comprising GLIL Infrastructure and Bluefield Solar Income Fund.
- Advising TotalEnergies on its sale of a 25.5% equity stake in the Seagreen offshore wind farm for £522m to PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited, a subsidiary of Thailand’s national oil and gas company PTT.
- Advising a contractor on its project development and construction documentation for a 1.7GW wind farm forming part of a 4GW green hydrogen facility in Saudi Arabia.
