Watson Farley & Williams and Nivalion hosted a special breakfast event: FUND-HER – Women & Legal Finance on Thursday 5 March 2026 in Munich. Held just a few days before International Women’s Day, this intimate gathering was designed to bring together female in-house counsel for meaningful conversation, connection and community.
The meet-up focussed on sharing insights, real talk around legal finance and celebrating the power and perspective that women bring to the legal profession.
An interactive panel discussion with Dr Laura Böse (Associate, WFW) and Dr Isabelle Berger (Chief Investment Officer & Partner) and Shamsi Zadeh (Investment Manager) from Nivalion awaited attendees. We focussed on practical insights into litigation funding – what it really is, how it works in practice and how it can (or sometimes shouldn’t) be used.
Topics we covered included:
- what litigation funding actually looks like; the basics, process and when it makes sense;
- funding and litigation insurance: how they fit together, and what key products are on the market;
- common misconceptions: addressing concerns such as cost, control, and disclosure; and
- real-world examples: lessons learned from actual cases.
