London Asset Finance Partner Kate Silverstein and Senior Associate Emily Widdrington have written a feature article in the March 2021 edition of Maritime Risk International (“MRI”), a prominent analytics and news provider to the shipping industry.
Kate and Emily take a detailed look into the first annual report on the Poseidon Principles which was published on 16 December 2020. They discuss the climate alignment scores attributed to each signatory’s shipping portfolio and they explore the key trends and future objectives of the report.
The Poseidon Principles are a framework which WFW helped to develop in order to support the IMO’s goal to reduce shipping’s total annual greenhouse gas emissions by at least 50% by 2050. Established in June 2019 with 11 original signatories, the Principles now have 24 of the world’s leading banks signed up, representing US$175bn in shipping finance.
