Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) has advised Spanish sustainable energy producer Opdenergy on the negotiation and execution of a 750 MW ten-year PPA with a European investment grade utility company, one of the largest bilateral PPAs signed in Europe to date.

The PPA covers 17 projects in the Spanish regions of Teruel, Zaragoza, Badajoz, Cuenca and Valladolid, which will collectively generate enough energy to supply more than 450.000 homes per year.

Opdenergy is a consolidated and fully integrated independent sustainable energy producer, with 15+ years’ experience in solar photovoltaic and onshore wind energy production. It has extensive global sector expertise, with 584 MW of operating assets in Spain, Chile, Italy, and Mexico. Furthermore, it also operates in the United Kingdom, France, Poland and the United States, where they are developing a strong pipeline of projects.

The WFW Madrid team advising Opdenergy was led by Regulatory Partner David Díez, supported by Corporate Senior Associate Enrique Thomas de Carranza.
