Senior Associate
Yue MA is a Senior Associate in the Assets & Structured Finance Group.
Yue is a dual qualified lawyer in the UK and China. Her practice focusses on the aviation industry. Before joining WFW, Yue worked as a transactional in-house lawyer at BOC Aviation where she led the negotiation and execution of various types of complex cross-border transactions.
Her experience includes aircraft and engine purchase from OEM, pre-delivery payment financings, aircraft operating leases, debt financing and portfolio trading transactions.
Yue was named ‘Rising Star’ for 2025 by leading aviation sector publication Airfinance Global.
She speaks native Chinese.
- Advised multiple parties on the historic merger of Tata SIA Airlines Limited (“Vistara”) with Air India, creating a unified full-service airline under the Air India brand.
- Advising on step-in purchase of 7 A320NEO family aircraft previously financed by UTF from Airbus
- Advising Cathay Pacific Airways on slots swap and purchase-and-leaseback of 9 Airbus A320NEO family aircraft.
- Advising European and US-based airlines on pre-delivery payment financing and operating Lease / finance lease
- Advising on restructuring the direct purchase orderbooks with OEMs
- Advising several big airlines based in US, India and Hong Kong on purchase-and-leaseback transactions of over 30 narrow-body and wide-body aircraft
- Advising Chinese airlines on Lease in, Lease out (LILO) transactions of a dozen of aircraft
- Advising various Chinese airlines and other Asian-based airlines on multiple sales of aircraft with leases attached
- Advising on portfolio sales of aircraft with lease attached into the asset-backed securities market
- Advising high-profile Chinese airline reorganisation during COVID
