Neil specialises in the development, acquisition and disposal of high-value energy and natural resources projects and assets.

With over 20 years of experience, Neil combines genuine industry insight with a practical and commercially-focussed approach, delivering high-quality service to help clients successfully navigate the complexities of an evolving industry.

Neil’s extensive LNG and oil and gas experience spans the supply chain, from upstream E&P and liquefaction projects, through LNG sales and shipping, to regasification terminals and downstream gas sales and transport and petrochemical projects. He has advised on significant upstream development and M&A transactions across diverse regions, including Argentina, Australia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Brazil, Cambodia, Indonesia, Libya, Malaysia, Mexico, Pakistan, the Philippines, Thailand, Tunisia and Vietnam.

Beyond his energy sector expertise, Neil advises international and state-owned companies in the mining sector, including on major projects such as the Simandou megaproject – one of the world’s largest iron ore mine and integrated port and rail developments.

Neil has practised in Australia, Hong Kong and the United Arab Emirates.

  • Advising Medco Energi on its US$1.355bn acquisition from ConocoPhillips of a 54 per cent operated interest in the Corridor Block and a 35 per cent interest in Transasia Pipeline Company, operator of the Grissik-Duri and Grissik-Singapore pipeline systems (2022 Energy Council Deal of the Year).
  • Advising Hoegh LNG on the development and US$299m commercial and K-sure-backed limited-recourse financing of floating LNG terminal facilities offshore Lampung, Indonesia including advising on the lease of a new-build floating storage and regasification unit and EPC arrangements for mooring, pipeline systems and onshore receiving facilities.
  • Advising on LNG sale and purchase agreements with buyers and sellers in Australia, China, France, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Mozambique, Oman, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Qatar, Thailand and the United States.
  • Advising on terms for the development of LNG terminals (both floating and land-based) in Australia, Croatia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Kuwait, Mexico, Pakistan and Vietnam.
  • Advising a leading US chemicals producer on development of its US$1bn+ petrochemical facilities in Shanghai, China including advising on gas purchase, commodity sales and port handling and storage arrangements.
  • Advising Chalco Iron Ore Holdings on the Simandou project in Guinea, one of world’s largest iron ore and related port and rail infrastructure projects.
