Nazia advises on the development and construction of infrastructure and energy projects across the Middle East, Africa and Europe. Her experience includes front-end and back-end construction, project development and limited project finance matters across the renewable energy, water, transport, ports and industrial infrastructure sectors. She acts for sponsors, lenders, developers and public sector entities on both local and cross-border transactions.

Nazia is admitted as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa and has experience working in Dubai, London and South Africa, including spending a year on secondment in London with the energy and infrastructure team of a leading international law firm.

  • Advising a regional oil and gas company on the review and update of its standard form EPC contracts for onshore and offshore construction works.
  • Advising Hutchison Middle East on a concession agreement with the Government of Ajman for the development and operation of a port in Ajman, UAE.
  • Advising Marafiq, Veolia Middle East and Lamar Arabia (as developers) on the development, construction and concession agreement with Saudi Aramco Total Refining and Petrochemical Company (SATORP) for the treatment and reuse of industrial wastewater to be generated by the Amiral Facility.
  • Advising the National Centre for Privatisation & PPP (NCP) and Mawani (Saudi Ports Authority) on the privatisation of eight new port terminal concessions in Saudi Arabia.
  • Advising senior lenders on the Ras Mohaisan IWP seawater desalination plant being developed by an ACWA consortium in the Western Province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
  • Advising a global energy group based in Australia on the global market standards in offshore wind projects. This involved a detailed analysis of project documents executed on various offshore wind projects throughout Europe, the United Kingdom, Asia and the Middle East.
  • Advising Sola Group on a 150 MW solar facility in the Free State province of South Africa, specifically in relation to the EPC contract and O&M contract.
