Jan specialises in corporate finance and M&A work, with an emphasis on businesses operating in the mining and commodities, oil and gas, energy, infrastructure and transport sectors, including cross-border and domestic acquisitions and disposals, joint ventures, equity and debt issues for public and private companies, private equity transactions, corporate restructurings and commercial agreements.
Jan is recognised as a leading lawyer by legal directories Chambers UK, Legal 500 UK and IFLR. In Legal 500 2024, Jan is ranked as a ‘Hall of Fame’ lawyer and described as a “technically excellent and commercially focused, corporate finance and M&A specialist”. Clients state that he “is a strong lawyer and always gives timely, practical advice” and is “always a pleasure to work with.” Chambers UK 2024 notes that “Jan is a trusted adviser with huge cross-border experience, including in emerging markets. - Advising Celsius Resources Limited on its admission to trading on the AIM market of the London Stock Exchange and connected fundraising, which was the first AIM IPO in 2023.
- Advising CREDITAS Group on its acquisition of InterGen Projects (UK) Limited and its UK business from InterGen’s parent company. The acquisition included three operational CCGT plants and one OCGT plant with a combined capacity of 2,800 MW as well as a 450 MW battery storage project.
- Advising the Republic of Guinea on the US$15bn Simandou project, the world's largest mining and related rail and port infrastructure project.
- Advising Stadtwerke München on its participation in the Awel y Mor offshore windfarm extension project (anticipated to be over 500MW) with RWE and Siemens Project Ventures.
- Advised Chaarat Gold Holdings Limited on its acquisition of the polymetallic Kapan mine in Armenia from the Polymetal International PLC group, constituting a reverse takeover under the AIM Rules, and related re-admission to AIM.
