#1 The role of LNG: FSRUs in Italy, lessons learned and future prospects
Supporting innovation and efficiency while ensuring autonomy and diversification of supply sources is key to ensuring the country’s energy independence and security.
In this context, LNG is considered a key vector for the energy transition, also thanks to the variety of its uses.
Since the beginning of 2022, Italy has installed 5 billion cubic metres of new LNG import capacity and the country is trying to position itself as a new European gas hub.
In our first round of meetings dedicated to Offshore Energy, we discussed the:
- Regulatory framework of LNG/FSRUs
- Legal and contractual aspects of installing and operating FSRUs
- FSRU projects implemented in Italy: case studies and lessons learned
Head of Italian offices Eugenio Tranchino hosted and moderated a panel composed of WFW Partners Michele Autuori, Carlo Cosmelli and Giannalberto Mazzei, and Andrea Leboffe, Head of Marine Floating Offshore Sector of RINA Consulting.
