Ports’ strategic role as new energy hubs5 February 2025

The upcoming Energy Law Decree of the Italian Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security (“MASE”) will identify state-owned areas eligible for funding in the construction of offshore infrastructure for the production of renewable energy.

Port authorities are thus called upon to act as drivers of development and innovation in order to achieve the targets set out in the European Green Deal.

In a recent article for Italian publication Shipping Italy, Partner Giannalberto Mazzei and Trainee Maria Vittoria Sini analyse the potential of public-private partnerships (“PPPs”) as financing tools for the development of ports as new energy hubs.
