How to use GARI

GARI is an interactive legal analytics tool to compare data and scores for aviation restructuring procedures, aircraft repossession rights and aircraft deregistration rights in 100 jurisdictions globally.

See below for a guide on how to use GARI and more information about its key features.

Repossession

To view the repossession rights for a particular jurisdiction, use the map or drop down menu on the right of the homepage to select the jurisdiction and click ‘START’.

To compare repossession rights across multiple jurisdictions, you can either add further jurisdictions on the map/homepage view or using the header in the data view.

You can amend your search at any point by using the header to change the jurisdictions selected.

You can also restart your search from the beginning by removing the first jurisdiction from the header (shown in burgundy) or clicking the GARI logo in the top left of the page.

Restructuring

Similarly to the Repossession process above, you can use the map or drop down menu to select multiple restructuring procedures in the same or different jurisdictions and click ‘START’.

Use the header to change the restructuring procedures that are being compared. Restart your search by removing the first procedure selected (shown in burgundy) or clicking the GARI logo in the top left.

Both

The both view is helpful because it provides a ‘mix and match’ overview of repossession, deregistration and restructuring data and scoring in relation to the relevant jurisdictions that can be combined within a single view.

To do this, select the jurisdictions of interest on the homepage with the ‘both’ option selected and then click ‘START’. This will give you the repossession, deregistration and restructuring scores in a single view for your selected jurisdictions.

You can also bring in restructuring data when already in the repossession data view by selecting ‘ADD RESTRUCTURING’ in the top right of the header.

Scoring

GARI assigns each jurisdiction a total restructuring, repossession and deregistration score to make it easy to compare and analyse jurisdictions globally. The scores are made up of component scores, such as repossession rights, third party rights, export rights and rule of law compliance (as discussed further below), with each of these components being assigned a different weighting.  When calculating the scoring and creating comparisons, GARI draws from the answers to numerous questions relating to these component scores.

PDF report

At the end of each data view page is the option to save your selection as a PDF report that can be shared more widely.

Contributing law firms

Also at the end of each data view page is the contact details for the law firm from each jurisdiction selected that has provided the data for their respective country. If you have any questions about the data or law for a particular jurisdiction, please reach out to the relevant law firm.
