WFW win IJGlobal Asia-Pacific ‘Innovation Deal of the Year’ 201917 July 2020
Prominent energy sector publication IJGlobal has highlighted Watson Farley & Williams’ (“WFW”) excellence in providing key legal advice in Asia’s energy industry by naming a transaction on which the firm advised ‘Innovation Deal of the Year’ in its 2019 awards ceremony.
The firm advised the Asian Development Bank on the Da Mi floating solar project, a first in Vietnam. The deal takes advantage of the major economic growth taking place in the country. The sophisticated nature of the transaction, with problematic PPAs, lucrative feed-in tariffs and multiple tranches of financing helped the deal to stand out in a competitive category.
This is the firm’s first IJGlobal award in the Asia-Pacific region.

Hanoi Office Head and lead partner in the deal Linh Doan commented: “I am delighted that the firm has been recognised for its expertise in Asia’s rapidly expanding energy sector. This award illustrates the firm’s capacity to provide clients with ground-breaking solutions to new and complex situations, which will make a lasting impact, especially here in Vietnam”.
