International law firm Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) has advised leading international energy fund Platina Partners LLP (“Platina”) on the restructuring of its Tagoro Energías Renovables photovoltaic plant. The plant has a total installed capacity of 9.4 MW and is located in Arico, Canary Islands, Spain. The plant was financed by a consortium of lenders including Banco Santander.

The restructuring ensures the project’s long-term viability under the current Spanish renewables regulatory framework and strengthens Platina’s Spanish operations.

The WFW advising Platina was led by Madrid Office Head and corporate Partner María Pilar García Guijarro, working closely with finance Senior Associates José María Anarte and Esther González. Partner David Diez and Associate Lidia Fernández advised on regulatory matters.

This is fourth restructuring María Pilar and her team have undertaken for Platina recently, having previously advised them regarding the Morón Fotovoltaica and Anemoi Cantillana plants in Seville and Mesa de Ocaña in Toledo.

Maria Pilar commented: “We are very pleased that once again Platina opted for WFW Madrid to advise them on a refinancing for their Spanish renewables portfolio, testament to our recognised expertise in this sector. That we have also advised on the majority of recent renewable project restructurings in Spain including those of Renovalia, Olivento and Tuin Zonne among others, confirms WFW’s standing as one of the ’go-to’ firms for complex sector transactions”.

The lenders were advised by Uría Menéndez.
