WFW advises KfW IPEX-Bank on financing of “La Granja Solar” Chilean photovoltaic project26 February 2019

Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) has advised KfW IPEX-Bank GmbH (“KfW IPEX-Bank”) on the US$91m financing for the Granja Solar photovoltaic project near Pozo Almonte in northern Chile. The loan documentation was signed in December 2018.

“La Granja Solar” was developed by Spain’s Getxo headquartered Solarpack Corporación Tecnológica, S.A., which will also be building, owning and operating the project. Following completion, Granja Solar will have a total installed capacity of 123 MWp.

The cross-border WFW team advising KfW IPEX-Bank was led by Hamburg Banking & Finance Partner Dr Stefan Kilgus, supported by Managing Associate Dr Pascal Unger and Associate Jens Leu. Hamburg Corporate/Energy Partner Stefan Hoffmann advised on project-related aspects of the transaction and Madrid Finance Partner Rodrigo Berasategui on Spanish law matters. Larraín Rencoret Urzúa Abogados acted as local Chilean counsel.
