Kimarie is a Partner in the Dispute Resolution Group.

Kimarie has significant experience in the areas of international trade and commodities, maritime and energy across the region.

Triple-qualified in Singapore, Hong Kong and England & Wales, Kimarie is a litigation specialist and handles matters relating to international trade and transportation, oil and gas, mining and commodities, shipbuilding, offshore and construction, technology and insurance. She has been involved in several substantial arbitrations in Singapore, London and Hong Kong.

Prior to joining Watson Farley & Williams, Kimarie worked in the commodities department of a leading international law firm in Hong Kong and Singapore. She has in-depth industry knowledge, having completed a number of secondments in her previous tenure at an oil and gas major company, an international commodities trading company, a Norwegian P&I Club and an international mining company.

Kimarie regularly speaks at international conferences and actively supports initiatives highlighting the role of women in the law, and in the maritime and commodities sectors.

Kimarie is fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.

  • Representing clients in Singapore High Court interpleader proceedings arising from the collapse of Hin Leong and related companies (including Ocean Tankers) where Hin Leong and related companies now face more than US$1.5bn in claims.
  • Representing clients in Singapore arbitration against an oil storage terminal in claims based on misrepresentation (fraudulent and negligent misrepresentation), tort of conversion and negligence arising from an oil storage agreement.
  • Representing sub-contractor clients in an EPC contract where they were claiming against their main contractor for non-payment of the works and services rendered pursuant to the EPC contract.
  • Representing Korean and Singapore energy companies in US$240m claims arising out of defaults by Chinese parties on several long-term LPG contracts concerning arbitrations in Singapore and Hong Kong.
  • Representing coal miners in a significant mining dispute (claims in excess of US$100m). The disputes arose from a long-term service contract between the owners of the mine and mining contractors, where the duration of the contract was for the life of the mine.
