Hannah Bruggen is an associate in the firm’s dispute resolution group.

Hannah has international arbitration experience in the construction, trade and transportation, and energy sectors. She also has legal project management experience in matters across real estate, finance and litigation specialisms.

She has worked in SE Asia and Australia. She joined Watson Farley & Williams in London as a trainee solicitor in 2003 and relocated to the firm’s Bangkok office in 2006.

  • Representing a Thai power producer in a claim against a Chinese contractor for breach of EPC contracts (governed by English law) for a biomass power generation plant, the first of its kind in Thailand. The claim exceeded US$40m and was successfully resolved through ICC arbitration in Singapore. Related proceedings in China for fraud were also successful.
  • Acting for charterers in a charterparty dispute relating to extensive delays at a load port in Australia due to “force majeure” events affecting the supply of the intended cargo, coal.
  • Representing a Thai state-owned company in the London High Court in contractual proceedings against a US software company for failure to implement a commodity trading platform under a contract governed by English law.
  • Acting for a high net worth individual in a Singaporean arbitration concerning the inadequate construction of a private motor yacht and related breaches of contract.
  • Advising an international dry bulk shipping company in connection with competing claims for bunkers supplied to three vessels through OW Bunkers group immediately before its sudden insolvency.
