Watson, Farley & Williams is keenly aware of its obligations
to the wider community in an economic, social and human context.

International Lawyers for Africa (ILFA)
In 2011, WFW chose to sponsor International Lawyers for Africa (ILFA, www.ilfa.org.uk), a pro bono/CSR initiative supported by leading international law firms based in London. IFLA provides African lawyers with high quality work experience and training in international and commercial law and key legal practice skills. Our London office hosted a Kenyan and Ugandan lawyer, helping them to expand their knowledge through a three month secondment with our Corporate and Project, Commodities and Export Finance groups.

Toynbee Hall
The firm sponsors Toynbee Hall's Free Legal Advice Centre in London (www.toynbeehall.org.uk). This service provides legal advice on benefits, consumer issues, debt, employment, family, housing and immigration matters to over 2,000 members of the local community each year.

Law Society’s Excellence in Social Responsibility – Pro Bono award
In 2008 we won the Law Society’s Excellence in Social Responsibility – Pro Bono award. It recognised a scheme we launched in 2006 to provide free, independent support to individuals or businesses grappling with the complexities of competition law. A further 20 law firms signed up for the scheme.

The initiative was also nominated for The Lawyer’s awards – Pro Bono Team of the Year, 2008.
