Finance Assistants

The newly formed International Project & Structured Finance Group is derived from our international finance and projects practices. This Group’s activity is mainly in the financing of the acquisition, ownership and operation of assets and projects requiring substantial capital, principally in the energy and transportation sectors. We act for various parties providing or receiving finance. The 4 main sub-categories are Project Finance, Structured Trade Finance, Property Finance and Asset Finance (including aircraft/rail).

The Firm intends that its strengths in connection with cross-border transactions are, and are recognised to be, consistent across all offices. We wish to ensure that we have sufficient geographical spread to enable the Firm to service its core clients effectively and efficiently. That will require us to build teams of lawyers with experience from senior partners to newly qualified solicitors, with a particular current emphasis of the mid-level assistants.

The core PSFG is based in our London office and, with support from our other offices, we are able to cover projects in and beyond the jurisdictions in which we are located.

Litigation Assistants

The Firm has a very strong dispute resolution department with extensive experience in all aspects of international dispute resolution (whether litigation, arbitration or ADR). We are recommended by the law directory Legal 500 as a leading firm in the following dispute resolution categories:

  • International Arbitration
  • Finance Litigation
  • Commercial Litigation

The editors of Legal 500 have described our litigation practice in the following terms:-

“Watson, Farley & Williams’ litigation department is one of few to be genuinely moving forward at pace. Few outside the Magic Circle can match the range and quality of recent instructions. Acting for a Vivendi joint venture, it successfully concluded one of Europe’s largest arbitrations. The firm is also increasing its share of instructions for the major banks, acting on some impressive derivative disputes in addition to a broad range of other matters.”

We consider that our practice is distinguished by five key factors:
  1. The range of disputes handled
  2. Success in large “high stakes” litigation
  3. The international nature of the disputes handled
  4. Experience in managing multi-jurisdiction disputes
  5. An innovative, result driven approach to disputes

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidates will be people who fit into the Firm’s culture which is diverse, dynamic, enterprising, creative, cosmopolitan and hard working.

We are looking for candidates with a minimum of three years relevant and high quality litigation experience.
