We are skilled in matters of economic regulation, and specifically in economic regulation at the crossroad with competition law. A number of our team have worked for regulators or within a regulatory environment, and so offer effective and commercially sound advice about the regulatory regimes which affect regulated sectors.

We advise clients in regulated industries such as energy, communications, transport and water with specific advice on applicable regulatory issues and before the courts. Our advice includes the application of the competition rules, which often overlap with sectoral regulation – particularly the rules on abuse of a dominant position.

As well as clients in regulated industries, we have also advised governments and regulatory bodies on the design, implementation and enforcement of sector-specific law and regulation, including drafting primary legislation.
