Banking Experience
- Advising the Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) on the financing of the sale and purchase of US$440 million of high-end technology equipment. The loans were advanced to a Singapore incorporated special purpose vehicle and each loan was secured over the equipment and the income stream. The structure was further supported by third party guarantees and other novel credit enhancement techniques
- Acting for P&O Nedlloyd in connection with the financing of four 7500 TEU containership newbuildings
- Advising Nordea Bank in relation to a US$230m syndicated loan to Exmar nv to refinance its 19 vessel gas carrier fleet
- Advising Credit Agricole Indosuez in relation to a US$115m syndicated loan to Sovcomflot Bulk Shipping for a fleet refinancing
- Advising Great White Fleet Limited in the sale of its five “director class” refrigerated modern cargo vessels in excess of US$50 million
- Advising NIB Capital and Bank of Scotland on $51 million financing package to convert an Italian Aframax tanker into a Floating Production and Storage Platform
- Advising Royal Bank of Scotland and Mitsui Marine Insurance Company Limited in connection with Project Stingray, which relates to a $105,000,000 construction loan in respect of a Ritz-Carlton Hotel and condominiums on a prime location on Seven Mile Beach, Grand Cayman. A Greg Norman designed 9 hole golf course was also part of the project. It was, in fact, one of the largest loans ever for a property project in the Cayman Islands.
- Advising The Royal Bank of Scotland plc on the receivership of the Lowline Shipping Group, and other shipping workouts/enforcements, involving aggregate indebtedness in excess of US$100 million. The Lowline receivership was the largest ever receivership of a UK-based shipping group and involved vessels in both the cruise and offshore sectors
- Advising AWSR on UK tonnage tax and on a loan to finance the building of six ro-ro vessels to be used by AWSR to provide a service to the Ministry of Defence
- Acting on the transfer of banking business between the London branches of two Scandinavian banks
