LNG Experience
  • Advising Excelerate Energy on the commercial agreements for a unique gas import project in Teesside, UK, which will install the facilities to enable regasified LNG to access the UK pipeline system and increase the natural gas supply in the UK. The project is the first Excelerate project outside the US and the first of its type in the world. Due to its unique characteristics, advice was required in relation to complex and innovative commercial arrangements, including close liaison with UK government and regulatory departments
  • Advising Shanghai LNG Company Ltd on its LNG import terminal project which includes LNG purchase tender and contract negotiations and shipping arrangements
  • Advising Guangdong Dapeng LNG Company Ltd on its import terminal project which includes, LNG purchase tender and contract negotiations, terminal and shipping arrangements. The CNOOC-led Guangdong project, which achieved industry-acknowledged "mould breaking" LNG purchase terms and establishment of a joint Sino-Australian shipping venture which will utilise the first LNG ships to be built in China through an innovative LNG acquisition and shipping tender conducted in 2002, started operation in 2006
  • Advising the Government of Cyprus as part of a consortium with MW Kellogg Ltd and Gas Strategies on a BOT tender for the construction and operation of an LNG and petroleum products import terminal project and related regulatory issues in Cyprus
  • Advice to China Light and Power in the development of their LNG import terminal in Hong Kong and acquisition of LNG, including advice on how TPA to the terminal might be structured pursuant to the Scheme of Control between CLP and the Hong Kong Government
  • Acting for DNB/ KEXIM in relation to an Exmar LNG newbuilding ship
  • Advising Teekay Spain on the US$330m refinancing of 2 LNG carriers on charter to Repsol and Union Fenosa
  • Advising all 3 successful bidders on contracts to provide LNG vessels for BP’s Tangguh LNG project and on related commercial and financing arrangements
  • Advising bidders on contracts to provide LNG vessels for the Suez LNG’s Yemen project and on related commercial and financing arrangements
  • Advising Exmar on their time charter negotiations with El Paso for two firm and two option LNG vessels, which are to be owned jointly by Exmar and Mitsui
