Watson, Farley & Williams has in depth, experience in domestic and cross border financings in the energy sector. This includes both onshore and offshore energy and the complex array of associated financial and legal issues. From the firm’s various offices, our lawyers operate as integrated teams, providing practical, commercially focused advice on every aspect of this complex industry. Our energy practice comprises 14 partners and 21 assistant solicitors working from the firm’s offices in London, Piraeus, Bangkok, Paris, Rome, Hamburg, New York and Singapore.
We have advised on power generation transactions ranging in size from 20 Megawatts to over 1000 Megawatts in virtually every fuel category - coal, biomass, oil, LNG, waste, hydroelectric, geothermal, natural gas, nuclear biomass, waste to energy and wind (onshore and offshore). We have also advised on transactions in the transmission, distribution and supply sub-sectors including privatisations.
Over 20 years we have built up specific, in-depth knowledge of the offshore exploration and production sectors – and of the array of financial and legal issues which arise. Our direct experience extends from the challenging UK and Norwegian fields in the North Sea to those of the US Gulf, Brazil, Africa and the Pacific Rim. This means that we can provide offshore operators and contractors with effective advice on everything, from corporate and equipment financing, contracts and tax planning, through to arbitration and litigation.
