Athens Experience
- Advising on the acquisition of shares by Investec and subsequently on the contractual documentation and bond-loan project financing for three 24 MW wind farms in Lakonia, Greece, on behalf of the holding company held jointly between Investec and Greek developer, BCI S.A.
- Advising Vestas Hellas S.A on various issues concerning contractual structuring and Greek subsidy law
- Advising various companies in the C. Rokas Group of companies (Greece’s largest private wind farm operator) on loans for a 31.2 MW wind farm (the first using lease financing for wind turbine purchase) from Bayerische HypoVereinsbank in 2002 and a project finance bond loan for a 40.3 MW wind farm in 2004 and extension and refinancing of that loan
- Representing London-based Good Energies Investments Ltd (formerly known as Englefield Renewable Energy Fund) in relation to its acquisitions of various operating wind farms and the shares of wind farm development companies in Greece
- Acting for the Ktistor Group of companies on the sale of its renewable energy sector to EEN Hellas SA, a subsidiary of EDF Energies Nouvelles SA. The transaction not only involved heavy negotiation of the sale contracts with EDF EN, but also negotiation and advice on Greek corporate law concerning the relationship between Ktistor’s shareholders
- Conducted legal due diligence (covering corporate issues, licensing, subsidies and financing arrangements) for the Rokas Group on a number of small wind farms in Crete being offered for sale by a company in the Enron Group
- Advising Ktistor ATE and subsequently EEN Hellas SA on drafting all construction and supply contracts for wind turbine installation and substation construction, as well as subsidy advice and bond loan financing in 2004 for a total of 122 MW capacity with Bayerische HVB, and in 2006 the turbine supply contract and bond loan financing for a further 30 MW wind farm on the island of Kefallonia
- Advising Jasper Wind SA, Good Energies Investment's Greek subsidiary, on the acquisition of a wind farm development portfolio with a total licensed capacity of 104 MW
- Acting for EDF EN's subsidiary in Greece for its financing of a total of six wind farms through Greek bond loan structure
