Tom is an Associate in the Dispute Resolution group in the London office of Watson Farley & Williams.

He specialises in property dispute resolution, with experience in landlord and tenant litigation and disputes relating to both commercial and residential property. Tom joined Watson Farley & Williams in 2016 after completing his training contract and qualifying at Winckworth Sherwood in 2014.

Tom has experience of advising on a broad range of disputes before various County Courts and the High Court. He has particular experience in advising commercial landlords and tenants and acting in disputes relating to the Electronic Communications Code and the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954.

Experience Open

    Tom has been involved in a number of court proceedings before the County Court and the Technology and Construction Court. His experience includes:
    • Acting for major telecommunications operators in relation to disputes involving attempts to remove their equipment to allow the redevelopment of land for various purposes, including the constructions of a supermarket and a major housing development.
    • Acting for commercial landlords in lease renewal proceedings relating to restaurant portfolios.
    • Advising commercial landlords in relation to management of their property portfolios.
    • Acting for a range of commercial tenants in opposed lease renewal proceedings which also involved disputes relating to the Electronic Communications Code.
    • Acting for a social housing provider in a claim arising out of a boundary dispute which threatened to prevent the client from progressing a substantial redevelopment of its property.
    • Acting for the operators of a hangar at a major airport in relation to a landlord and tenant dispute and advising on the threat of forfeiture.
    • Acting for a residential landlord with a significant property portfolio in relation to a claim for possession of a valuable flat for the purposes of redevelopment.
    • Advising commercial tenants in relation to settlement of dilapidations claims and the provision of vacant possession at the end of a lease.
