Simon Kavanagh is a partner in the Asset Finance Group based in London. He joined Watson Farley & Williams as a partner in 1997. He specialises in structured finance, debt capital markets transactions, derivatives and in asset and project finance across a broad range of sectors and asset classes. He has advised on financings of containers, container vessels, LNG vessels, cruise vessels, satellites, windfarms (onshore and offshore), landfill gas plants, biofuels and solar modules.

Experience Open

    • Advising BG Group plc on the restructuring of the financing arrangements relating to 6 LNG vessels.
    • Advising a state-owned rail operator on a €3 billion EMTN programme.
    • Advising a Canadian owner on the restructuring of defeased leases of LNG vessels.
    • Advising BNP Paribas as arranger, cash manager and account bank on a proposed airline securitisation for BA.
    • Advising on a wide range of hedging arrangements including advising swap banks and corporates on the hedging arrangements relating to vessel financings, advising on derivative based transactions and advising on the documentation and transfer of portfolios of derivatives.
    • Advising a major liner company on the restructuring of 4 defeased lease transactions.
    • Advising a major liner company on the restructuring of approximately 20 financings.
    • Advising Belwind N.V. on the €600 million project financing of the first phase of the Bligh Bank, Belgian offshore wind farm.
    • Advising Plambeck Neue Energien AG on a €102 million bond financing for eight wind farms, structured as a whole business securitisation.
    • Advising arrangers and originators on securitisations of shipbuilding contracts receivables.
    • Advising container operator companies on securitisations of container receivables.
    • Advising an Australian power developer on the refinancing and subsequent restructuring of its UK landfill gas portfolio.
