Stephanie is an Associate in the firm’s Dispute Resolution group. Stephanie focuses on international commercial arbitration, her recent work includes advising a publicly listed Thai company in relation to claims exceeding US$500m brought under a number of concurrent arbitrations in London.

Stephanie joined Watson Farley & Williams as a Trainee Solicitor in 2010, and has been a member of the Litigation group in Bangkok since qualifying in 2012.

Experience Open

    Stephanie’s experience includes:
    • Advising Thailand’s premier international energy company on the termination of a US$7m contract with a software service provider.
    • Acting for the subsidiary of a major Thai public company regarding disputes from investments in the Indonesian palm oil sector. The disputes concern land intended for palm oil cultivation and include allegations of fraud and corruption. They are part of a series of wider disputes relating to the failure of similar ventures in Indonesia and an overall exit strategy for these ventures. Arbitration has commenced in Singapore under SIAC Rules to recover losses which exceed US$75m.
    • Advising shipowners and operators in the wake of the insolvency of the OWB Group entities, in connection with the supply of bunkers through OWB. As OWB has not paid the physical suppliers of the bunkers, these suppliers have threatened to pursue claims in different jurisdictions against the relevant vessels.
    • Representing a publicly listed Thai company in disputes with a Hong Kong company relating to claims exceeding US$500m for breach of various exclusivity obligations, brought under 21 references in front of a sole arbitrator in London (ad hoc arbitration, English law, 15 day hearing).
    • Representing a high-net-worth individual in claims against a Malaysian vessel manufacturer for various defects in an ocean-going catamaran brought in front of a sole arbitrator in Kuala Lumpur. Claims in excess of US$1m (KLRCA arbitration, Malaysian law, four day hearing) (instructing).
    • Advising on insurance and reinsurance disputes arising out of the 2010 civil unrest in Thailand. In particular, considering coverage issues as between the All Risks insurers and the Political Violence insurers.
    • Advising on insurance and reinsurance disputes arising out of the 2011 Thai floods. In particular, considering causation and loss relating to various business interruption claims and advising on enforceability of an arbitral award out of the jurisdiction.
