Shaakir has experience in banking and finance transactions, and is developing a specialism in upstream oil & gas RBL and exploration finance facilities, acting for both borrowers and lenders on loan and security documentation. He also has experience advising borrowers, lenders and sponsors on international energy and infrastructure projects across the MENA region.

Experience Open

    Shaakir’s recent experience includes advising:
    • An international development bank on procurement and concession laws for countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and drafting a report in conjunction with other advisors as part of an IFC mandate. This was part of a wider World Bank programme in creating an attractive legal and regulatory environment for investors and lenders in connection with upcoming energy and infrastructure PPP projects.
    • A global bank on a leveraged cross border transaction including drafting documentation and working closely with international counsel.
    • A national bank on a £112m amendment and restatement facility agreement and security documentation.
