Richard joined Watson Farley & Williams in 2014. He has experience of mergers and acquisitions, public listings, private equity investments, joint ventures, reorganisations, and general commercial and competition aspects of corporate transactions.

Prior to joining Watson Farley & Williams, Richard worked at an international law firm, including time spent working in its Moscow office.

Experience Open

    Richard’s experience includes advising:
    • Vattenfall, one of Europe’s leading electricity generators, on its disposal of a 49% stake in the 150 MW Ormonde offshore wind farm in England to Swedish pension group AMF for £237m (circa SEK 3bn).
    • Global Risk Partners Limited, the independent insurance intermediary, on its backing of the management buyout of specialist Lloyd’s broker Lonmar Global Risks.
    • Frasers Hospitality UK Holdings Limited on the acquisition of Malmaison Hotel du Vin hotel group from private equity firm KSL Capital Partners, LLC, for a consideration of £363.4m.
    • Tower Resources plc on three concurrent “transformational” transactions: its £19.3m placing and subscription, proposed acquisition of Rift Petroleum Holdings Ltd and proposed farm-in to Block 2B onshore Kenya alongside Taipan Resources Inc.
    • Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield, part of the Peel Group, on a long-term transformational deal with Flybe for two 118 seat Embraer 195 jet aircraft to be based at Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield.
    • TransGlobe Energy Corporation on its proposed merger with Caracal Energy Inc.
    • Range Resources Limited on its acquisition of the interest in Guayaguayare Block, Trinidad, from Niko Resources Ltd.
    • HP Shipping Ltd on a sale and leaseback transaction with All Leisure Group, the AIM listed cruise operator, in relation to the Hebridean Princess (the luxury cruise liner that was chartered by HM Queen Elizabeth II on her 80th birthday).
    • EBRD on the sale of its interest in GTC Real Estate Investments Ukraine B.V.
    • Dalberg Global Development Advisors Ltd on an aviation services supply agreement with Inmarsat Global Ltd.
    • A major commodities trading company on its acquisition of a controlling interest in a copper mining company in Kazakhstan.
    • A Ukrainian industrialist on a US$9m investment in a group of companies holding licences to mine gold in Zimbabwe.
    • MEAG MUNICH ERGO Asset Management on its acquisition, alongside Munich RE, of three UK PV projects with a total capacity of up to 28 MW.
