Rob is an Associate in the Tax group in the London office of Watson Farley & Williams. He trained at the firm and qualified as a solicitor in September 2013.

Rob advises on all aspects of corporate taxation (both direct and indirect). He has acted for a broad range of clients on M&A, corporate finance, real estate investments, group reorganisations and international asset and structured finance transactions.

Experience Open

    Rob’s experience includes advising:
    • SMT Holding SA on the tax aspects of its acquisition through a new UK subsidiary, Services Machinery & Trucks Ltd, of Volvo Construction Equipment’s GB dealership, including all distribution rights for Volvo-branded construction equipment machines, parts and aftersales, its Cambridgeshire headquarters and most of its other assets, as well as the transfer of all its UK employees.
    • Vattenfall, the Swedish state-owned utility, on its acquisition of UK gas and electricity supply business ISupplyEnergy.
    • Velocita Energy Developments Ltd on its £191.5m disposal of a portfolio comprising three under-construction onshore wind projects in eastern France to Canada’s Innergex Renewable Energy Inc. and Desjardins Group Pension Plan.
    • European renewables platform Vortex, which is managed by the private equity arm of EFG Hermes, on its acquisition of 365 MW UK solar PV portfolio with an enterprise value of c. £470m from TerraForm Power. Comprising 24 operational assets, Vortex’s new acquisition represents one of the largest solar PV portfolios in the UK.
    • OMV AG and OMV Exploration & Production GmbH on the sale of 100% of the shares in its wholly owned subsidiary OMV (U.K.) Ltd to Siccar Point Energy Limited (backed by Blackstone Energy Partners and Blue Water Energy) for a consideration of up to US$1bn.
    • Velocita Energy Developments Ltd on the disposal of its French business, consisting of a 14 MW operating onshore windfarm in France and its French development portfolio, to Chinese turbine manufacturer Envision Energy. The pipeline consists of circa 500 MW of projects at various stages of development, primarily located in eastern France near Besançon.
    • Velocita Energy Developments Ltd on the disposal of two onshore wind farms in Scotland – the operational 11.5 MW Ardoch and Over Enoch project in East Renfrewshire and the construction-stage 35 MW Airies project in Dumfries and Galloway, to NTR Wind 1 Fund, a vehicle backed by Irish developer NTR, Legal & General Capital, Strathclyde Pension Fund and the Irish Strategic Investment.
    • DIF, a leading independent fund management company, on the acquisition of the 26 MW Wadlow onshore wind farm located in Cambridgeshire.
    • Global Risk Partners Ltd, the independent insurance intermediary, on its backing of the management buyout of specialist Lloyd’s broker Lonmar Global Risks.
    • DONG Energy on its sale of a 50% stake in the 258 MW Burbo Bank Extension UK offshore wind farm project to Danish pension provider PKA and KIRKBI A/S, parent company of the LEGO Group.
    • A Scandinavian shipping finance provider on its compliance with FATCA, a tax-withholding and reporting regime enacted by the United States that applies to financial institutions worldwide.
    • DONG Energy on the sale of the transmission system assets relating to the Walney 2 offshore wind farm project to Blue Transmission Walney 2 Ltd.
    • Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners on its acquisition of a 25% stake in the Beatrice Wind Project in Outer Moray Firth in northern Scotland.
