Summary Open

Michael is a Partner in the firm’s Finance group.

Michael advises financiers, owners and operators on a range of domestic and international asset and structured finance transactions in respect of a number of difference asset classes, including debt and equity financing, regulatory and advisory services and enforcement.

Michael’s main focuses are on asset finance and leasing, aviation finance, shipping finance, sports finance and Islamic finance.

In the aviation sector, Michael has represented clients on a variety of structured finance projects, from ECA-backed and commercial debt financed projects (including PDP financing projects) for fleets of commercial aircraft and helicopters to corporate jet transactions. Michael also has advised on the sale and purchase of aircraft and aircraft engines and on engine support arrangements.

In the shipping sector, Michael has advised lenders, agent banks, lessors, lessees and owners on a range of structures including syndicated loan transactions (both pre- and post-delivery) for the financing of ice-breaker supply vessels, LNG vessels, tankers, offshore installations, commercial ships and superyachts. Michael has also advised on ship sale and purchase transactions, BIMCO chartering arrangements and the granting and discharge of security.

In the sports sector, Michael has extensive experience of representing banks, financial institutions and individuals who invest, or look to invest, in the football industry on a number of sports finance structures and matters, including debt finance, the discounting of broadcasting receivables, player transfer finance (both domestic and cross-border), season ticket financing and the financing for the development of a football club’s training ground.

Michael has also advised on structured finance and leasing projects, including the financing of medical, IT and digital cinema equipment as well as the financing of fine art.

Michael is identified as a leading helicopter finance lawyer in Corporate Jet Investor.
