Monica is an Associate in the firm’s Litigation department, based in Milan.

She has an extensive experience in civil and commercial law and she specialises in litigation and arbitration relating to construction and commercial matters. In particular, Monica assists Italian and foreign companies in national and international transactions, drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, advising on management of the consequent claims and disputes, representing them before International arbitration chambers (ICC, CAM) and Italian Courts.

She is also an Arbitrator at the National and International Chamber of Arbitration of Milan (“CAM”).

From 2007 to 2013 she worked at a major law firm, member of the legal network of a “Big Four” advisory and audit company, where she gained extensive experience in commercial, corporate and insolvency law. With particular reference to corporate governance, she has extensive experience as an auxiliary and consultant to the Boards of Statutory Auditors and Supervisory Bodies, as well as a consultant for Boards of Directors, also of listed companies.

Monica graduated in 2003 with a Law Degree cum laude from the University of Insubria of Como, with a thesis entitled “The sub supply agreement” and in 2012 she earned a Ph.D. in Civil Law from the State University of Milan, with a thesis entitled “The invalidity of the Board of Directors’ resolutions in the framework of the invalidity system”. She also obtained a Master’s in Company Law at Sole24Ore Formazione in 2011.

Monica joined Watson Farley & Williams in 2018.

Experience Open

    Monica’s relevant experience includes:
    • Advising a leading construction company on the development of some international projects (i.e. the construction of a new headquarter of a leading gas company, a new stadium, some high-profile cultural centres), drafting and negotiating contract for works, subcontracts and supply contracts, providing advice on the management of the claims and representing it before Italian Courts.
    • She was counsel (in a panel) of a leading construction company in two international arbitration procedures both administered by the International Chamber of Commerce, one based in Doha and regarding the non-fulfillment of a consultancy agreement and one based in Geneva and concerning the action of non-fulfillment of some settlement agreements related to a contract for works and a Joint Venture Agreement.
    • In 2014 she was appointed arbitrator by the Arbitration Chamber of Milan in ad hoc and administered procedures, in disputes related to contracts for works and company matters.
    • In 2016 and 2017 she was appointed as arbitrator in the Pre-Moot, held in Milan and in Rome, and in the “Willem C. Vis Arbitration Moot” in Vienna.
